
Donna Imrisek – Violinist and Creator of Virtual Violins
After studying violin, strings, and piano in Boston, at New England Conservatory with Eric Rosenblith, Master Classes with Dorothy DeLay, chamber music with Leslie Parnas and Burton Fine, as well as other Juilliard teachers and studies with Robert Soetens in France, Donna has been fortunate to enjoy over twenty years of teaching violin as well as performing violin as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral musician.
Teaching
Donna’s initial studio experience began during her education at New England Conservatory, where she began teaching young students in the Boston area. Later, Donna was able to give master classes, private and group lessons and currently teaches private lessons as well as virtual lessons and holds master classes for select students in all stringed instruments.
Ms. Imrisek’s students have continued their high school and college studies at music schools, conservatories, summer programs, including at Peabody, as well as gone on to solo and orchestra performing careers.
Donna has also been a certified Kindermusik instructor in excess of ten years. Kindermusik provides literacy and music training to children, birth through age seven, and is a great class before students begin instrumental lessons.
After moving into teaching students virtually, Donna created Virtual Violins, to bring the joy of learning and playing the violin to all ages and levels.
Performing
Ms. Imrisek was a First Violinist, ten-year member of the Chattanooga Symphony, Chattanooga Opera Orchestra, and the New Art Trio which was fortunate to be selected for a performance on NPR. Donna has performed in several orchestras and chamber music organizations, including, Charleston, Savannah, Richmond and the Virginia Symphonies. Donna was also a sub with the Atlanta Symphony and a full-time member of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra.
Other performing opportunities have included orchestra and small ensemble engagements touring Japan, South Korea, as well as France, and other European destinations. Donna has been fortunate to be a member of several backup orchestras for many renowned artists including Natalie Cole, Lionel Ritchie, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Ben Vereen, Rod Stewart, and the Moody Blues.
Solo engagements have most recently included many venues and recitals in the Eastern and Southern United States as well as duo performances and recordings with the classical guitar and violin duo Imrisek and Miller, performing, premiering, and recording rarely played guitar and violin duos.
Recordings include the Choral Arts Guild of Chattanooga and various recordings with Full Armored Records, You Tube and SoundCloud.
